Job Description
The VP of Finance and Accounting is responsible for processing the financial activities that maximize profits. The position is responsible for developing and directing the company’s analytical and financial plans and policies. Reports on metrics to optimize growth by understanding where efficiencies exist to maximize scalability throughout the year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Aligns Finance & Accounting department goals with the values, vision and mission of the organization.
- Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports
- Contributes to the development of the strategic plan by providing financial insights and analysis.
- Works closely with the executive leadership team to align financial strategies with overall business objectives.
- Prepares monthly internal financial reports.
- Provides guidance and support on complex accounting issues and technical matters.
- Provides financial expertise and insights on strategic initiatives to support decision-making, including ROI analysis of the project.
- Leads the development and management of the capital budgeting process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial objectives.
- Evaluates and prioritizes capital expenditures, providing strategic recommendations to the executive leadership team.
- Policy development for financial-related needs.
- Responds to ad-hoc requests for financial analysis, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of information.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for financial performance improvements and efficiency gains.
- Prepares and delivers financial presentations to internal and external parties, leveraging strong communication skills.
- Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and other reporting requirements
- Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets
- Oversees Accounting department, Finance department, budget preparation, and audit functions
Skills & Experience Required:
- Communicating with a board and investors
- Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems
- Success in regulatory audit inspections
- Experience developing and implementing financial strategies and managing budgets
- Experience overseeing financial reporting and compliance
Education and Experience:
- MBA or Masters in Accounting or Finance preferred
- CPA preferred
- 10 years of work experience in a high-level Finance role (e.g., VP, Director, Controller, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, with 7 years leading a team)
- Experience with a CDMO preferred
